The video and documentation below describe how to use the File Info worksheet.
For information about Navigate, click the respective link.
Clicking Registration will produce a window that will give you a snapshot summary of your Narrative1 user credentials. If you have never made a connection to your database, you can follow the steps in Database Setup to do so.
This button can largely be ignored for most users. However, there are several scenarios where it may be of use:
- Determining your Narrative1 engine build
- Determining your User Permissions Type (Associate vs. Administrator)
2. Database Setup
The Database Setup button serves only a handful of purposes; besides providing information pertaining to your database name, username, and password, the Database Setup window allows you to initiate a connection to the database.
If your credentials are not typed into this space, you will not be able to connect to the database. Following installation, if you encounter any connection errors, check this space to ensure your user credentials match what ExactBid sent to you. Click Apply/Reset to lock in any changes, and to ensure your credentials are correct.
Test Connection simply checks to see if the user information entered is correct, but does not apply - or save - anything. Remove deletes the saved user information outright.
Can't remember your login credentials? Contact Narrative1 Support for more information.
3. Update Project Status
This function only serves to update the adjacent Project Status Date and Time field. Clicking it will update the text to match the current date and time on your computer.
Making any change in Narrative1 will also update the Project Status Date and Time field.
4. Import and Export Subject Data to DB
Using the Import Subject Data to DB button will allow a user to import property information created in N1 Web as a subject property in Narrative1 Excel. For users who plan to base an appraisal off of an existing record, this is the standard way to begin working with the software.
To import a certain record as a subject, simply find and enter its ID into the appropriate spot, and then click Import Subject Data to DB.
When you're finished working with your appraisal file, you can return to this section and click Export Subject Data to DB to save all of your changes to the database. As you work throughout Narrative1, you'll find options to specify what data is saved.
5. Show/Hide Worksheets
Show/Hide Worksheets allows you to hide a worksheet tab from view.
Hiding a worksheet promotes an organized environment, and allows you to customize a workbook so that you're focusing on the data that matters most to you.
Worksheets that are hidden will not have their fields saved when performing Prep Fields and Tables, thus resulting in a faster prep time.
To Hide or Show a Worksheet:
- Click the empty boxes beside each worksheet you wish to hide.
- Click Hide/Unhide Selected.
Unchecking a box, and clicking Hide/Unhide Selected will cause the worksheet to reappear.
